Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to bring my own instrument?
Yes, please bring your own instrument. Your school may have an option to borrow theirs. You might also look into renting here.

Can my friend and I be roommates?
We try our best to accommodate everyone, but some of the residences we use may not have double rooms. We will do our best to put you in a room with or close to your friends. If double rooms are available, both you and your friend should indicate that you would like to room together on your respective registration forms.

Are there rules and regulations?
Of course! Regardless of your age, all people who come on campus to study/work are required to observe the rules. Please refer to our Student Guidelines page for the rules and regulations we expect you to follow while you are here at Acadia.

I'm a day student. Where do I eat and what do I do at lunchtime?
Day students eat with the rest of the students at Wheelock Dining Hall.

I'm a day student. Where can my parents pick me up at the end of the day?
All day campers must sign in and out each day. All campers should check in by 8:45am at the Festival Theatre Building (FTB) on Main Street each morning as we will start each day with a full camp exercise there at 9:00am. All campers will check out at "Camp Central" in Eaton House between 4:15 and 4:30. Later pick-up times can be accommodated by making arrangements with the counsellor team. If you will be leaving campus on your own at the end of the day, you must provide permission from a parent (either written or communicated directly to a counselor) at the beginning of the week. You must still sign in and sign out whenever you arrive or leave campus.

What kind of schedule will I have during the day?
A busy one! Classes run from 9:00-4:15, and optional evening activities (provided by our counselling team) will run from 6:00-9:00pm. Be sure to consult your schedule daily and check with your counselor each day for any changes.

What about the rest of the day?
There's a lot to do and you will receive a more complete schedule when you arrive at Acadia. Please note that the activities are for all students and we encourage day students to take part in as many events as possible to get the most out of your experience at Acadia. Activities vary each day/evening and may include outdoor sports, a movie night, a variety show, concerts, and more.

Who do my parents contact if they need to reach me while I'm at Acadia?
Messages may be left for students at the Residence and Events Office by calling (902) 585-1221.  This office is operational 24 hours.  In the case of an emergency, call Acadia Campus Security at (902) 585-1103.

When you arrive at Acadia, you and your parents/guardians will receive a copy of these contact numbers.
